Washington state is a great place to visit if you have never been to the Pacific Northwest before. If you are used to the South, it is a major change of scenery. With so many vacation deals to Washington, you really don’t have an excuse not to see this amazing state and experience what the area has to offer. From great shopping to some incredibly scenic vistas, Washington is a place you really should check out.

Great Shopping
Naturally, Washington has a lot of great places to buy whatever you want. However, some of the best are less well-known than the big box retailers. For example, in Seattle they have the Pike Place Market. In 1906, frustrated citizens complained so much that the city council started a market where farmers could sell their produce directly to consumers.
From there, the place turned into a cultural center when musicians began to perform all over the place. Between the scenery, the music and the food, travel deals to Washington are not the only way to find a great time without shelling out much money.
Ferry Rides

While the ferry in the picture above has been out of service since 2007, she served a grand 80 years. And Washington’s ferry system is alive and well despite the passing of the torch from older ships to younger ones. If you’re from Georgia and have never been on a ferry before, then the cheap flights from Atlanta to Washington will be worth it the moment you step aboard.
For history buffs, ferries are how people used to cross water on their daily commutes before massive bridges were practical to build. For lovers, a ferry ride is a gorgeous place to hold each other’s hands and gaze out at the water. If you just enjoy taking a few minutes to check out the waves crashing on distant rocks, there is plenty to behold from the deck of a ferry.
There are even ferries dedicated to being entertaining in themselves. For example, the Queen of Seattle claims to be the biggest steam ship west of the Mississippi. They have a steam calliope, a silly cabaret show and some incredible views of Lake Union from the roof of the vessel.
Washington is a great state. It is a shame that too many people who hear that you are booking for a flight to Washington will think you are talking about the nation’s capital. While Washington is not too well-known as a vacation destination, it really should be.
