The Foundation awards grants ONLY to organization that meet ALL FOUR of the following criteria:

1) protect the ENVIRONMENT
2) promote cultural DIVERSITY
3) EMPOWER people to meet their basic needs
4) rely on VOLUNTEER efforts

Cottonwood Foundation especially seeks to support organizations for which small grants will make a significant difference.

Restrictions and Limitations............................................................

Cottonwood Foundation has limited funding, and will only award grants if all four criteria (above) are met. Only charitable, non-profit organizations will be funded. Political and religious organizations, governmental agencies, private individuals, and universities are not eligible for funding. Organizations which have received funding from Cottonwood in previous years are eligible, BUT applications should not be submitted in two consecutive grant rounds.

Application forms can be printed from the web page, or requested directly from the Foundation. Organizations will also need to print out or obtain a copy of the Payment Form.

The application form and payment form should be filled out. Supporting documents should be attached. Entire application should be mailed to address above.

Attachments requested include:
- copy of current annual budget
- financial report for last fiscal year
- brief summary of organization's mission
- brief description of how your organization protects the environment
- brief description of how your organization empowers people to meet their basic needs- brief description of the role of volunteers in your organization- answer what specifically would your organization do with $500 - $1000 grant from Cottonwood Foundation, and how this would make a difference
- if funds will be passed along to another organization, brief explanation of relationship between your two organizations
- if your organization is a project, program or division of another organization, a brief explanation of relationship between two organizations
- other descriptive written materials about your organizations (brochure, mission statement) as useful

For 1998, applications should be received by Cottonwood Foundation by February 12, 1998 for Spring 1998 grant round, and by August 12, 1998 for Fall 1998 consideration.
